Dumplings from Scratch

Hi Everyone, because I’ve had so much extra free time, I decided cook and try out some recipes. And I do need cooking since it is therapeutic and all that shit.

My mom and I were folding like about 240 dumplings over the pass three days…actually that sounds really crazy. My mom and I basically folded 40 dumplings a night which is easy work. I’m a pretty good dumpling folder although I have clumsy hands and fingers that won’t allow me to make origami.

So Today I thought I would steam five dumplings and fry five dumplings. I really like my dumplings with peanut butter and soy sauced mixed together. Not a lot of people are willing to try this but it’s really good I ensure you! You could find a recipe of that online but I usually just microwave the peanut butter and soy sauce. You’ll see the following pictures that I sort’ve burnt the peanut butter so it doesn’t look as good as it taste. Image

Dumplings are in fact very simple to make. You need to start with what you’re going to put into your dumplings. The possibilities are endless but if you’re not Chinese or aren’t use to authentic chinese food, go with the pork and chives combination. Those dollar dumplings places mostly use this combination because it’s popular and tastes the best. You can buy ground pork at any supermarket. I’m not sure where you can get chives as I didn’t buy the pork and chives. But your best bet is a local chinese grocer. Also when you’re at the chinese grocer, make sure to get soy sauce or hot sauce or of course peanut butter to drown your dumpling in. And don’t forget the dumpling wrappers. They’re in the fridge aisle. When you get home with all your ingredients, chop up the chives and mix the pork with the chives and pour a lot of soy sauce…not that the mixture gets watery. If it does —> Corn starch. My mom poured some wine in the mixture but that is completely up to you. Now you’ll wrap the dumplings…okay I recommend a Youtube tutorial or something. I sort just know how to fold a dumplings. I don’t know. Assuming that you when and found a tutorial like that, freeze those dumplings. Be sure to lay them all out nicely. The next afternoon, simply steam them and if you would like to fry them, steam the dumplings first. Let dry and fry the dumplings as you would usually fry anything.

I don’t know when this blog became a food blog or when I became such a foodie or whatever you call me.

Back to Attack!…with Huevos Rancheros

Hello Everyone!,

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted something on this blog and for that I am very sorry. If you’ve read my previous posts namely “I need a job or brain exercises or self motivators….”, you’ll know that I get bored very easily and depressed really easily if I don’t have enough things to do in my day. Summer is just like a breeding time for my depressive ways. It’s not healthy and I’ve been dealing with that for the past-uh how long as it been since my last post?two weeks?-whatever amount of time but that’s why I haven’t been writing in here as much.

I tried to get out of my funk today by making something I’ve never made before. Huevos Rancheros is really simple to make and only require a few ingredients and cooking skills to make and make beautiful and great tasting.

You’ll need a tortilla, 2 tablespoons of Salsa, an egg, a frying pan and oil. Lightly fry the tortilla. Afterwards add additional oil for the egg to fry in. Then drop the salsa in the hot pan so the salsa isn’t ridiculously cold on the egg and tortilla. Garnish can be anything really. Okay we’ll think like we’re making a taco… so put anything you might find on a taco (avocados, cheese (like i did here), beans, hot sauce(like i did here), or cilantro( like i did here). And we are done!
